Japanese soprano Hiromi Omura returns to the Sydney Opera House to perform the title role in five extra performances of Opera Australia’s production of Madama Butterfly in 2015.

Ms Omura was an impressive ‘Butterfly’ when she first sang the role in Sydney in Moffatt Oxenbould ‘s 2012 production. She returned in 2013 to sing the role in Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour. Once again she was widely lauded for this performance.

Greek soprano Alexia Voulgaridou who dazzled in the role of Tosca for Opera Australia in 2013 takes the role of Cio-Cio San from 27 January – 22 February, followed by Australian soprano Antoinette Halloran who sings from 25 February – 18 March. Hiromi Omura will perform the role from March 19 – 28, 2015.

Tickets for the additional performances of Madama Butterfly are now on sale and start at $69. Visit www.opera.org.au or call the Opera Australia Box Office on 02 9318 8200.
