Chanteuse Nadia Piave and her Soqquadro friends are able to perform their two-part Christmas concert again, in a very special ‘place of echo and resonance’ (M. Leunig), the serene St Augustine’s Church, Eaton St, Balmain.
Part 1, Inspiration is at 7.30pm and is a collection of Nadia’s favourite songs and carols from Christmases past, present, faraway and nearby…
Part 2, Come and I will Sing You is at around 9pm and is a meditative improvisation on Hildegard’s O Jerusalem.
The program: Gems from The New Oxford Book of Carols, songs and arrangements by Ruth McCall, Helen Gifford, Ross Edwards, Hildegard von Bingen, Nasrudin, Alan Bullard, Fairuz, Folk Angel, traditional yuletide gospel and folk songs, and swirling improvisations in the stunning acoustic of St. Augustine’s, Balmain
