Rob Hao Plays Australian Premiere Of Nicholas Vines’ Indie Ditties

April 8, 2022 @ 7:00 pm

London-based Australian pianist Rob Hao gives the Australian premiere tour of Sydney-based composer Nicholas Vines’ extravagant fifty-minute portrayal of contemporary hipster subculture Indie Ditties along with major piano works of the Romantic era.

This fun-filled yet thought-provoking contemporary work is programmed alongside a performance of Frederic Chopin’s legendary Ballade No. 1 in G minor, a selection of Impromptus by Franz Schubert and other works by both composers, exploring some of the most lyrical music in the
piano repertoire.

This is a complex and thrilling solo piano recital that surveys composers whose music represent the voices of  their times – from the nineteenth century and our modern day.
Programme: Nicholas Vines – Indie Ditties (2017, Australian premiere)/ Fryderyk Chopin – Three Mazurkas Op. 63/ Franz Schubert – ‘Erstarrung’ from Winterreise D911 (transcribed by Franz Liszt)/ Franz Schubert – Du bist die Ruh (transcribed by Franz Liszt)/ Fryderyk Chopin – Impromptu no. 3 in G-flat major, Op. 51/ Franz Schubert – Impromptu in G-flat major, Op. 90 no. 3/ Franz Schubert – Impromptu in A-flat major, Op. 142 no. 2/ Fryderyk Chopin – Ballade no. 1 in g minor, Op. 23
