Taikoz and the Sydney Improvisers Composers Kollectiv Orchestra join forces in Intermode, a daring collaboration that invites both ensembles into unknown terrain, a meeting place to create shared sounds, motion and form. It will take the audience on a journey full of sonic colour and resonance that is surprising and exciting. Taikoz and SICKO as you have never seen – or heard – them before!
The musicians of SICKO, under the direction of Trevor Brown, will effectively orchestrate Ian Clewarth’s score of Home in real-time by improvising the musical detail. They will move freely between highlighting, contrasting, soloing, underpinning, harmonising, re-contextualising this original composition for taiko, shinobue and percussion. And as is the nature of this collaboration which relies on spontaneity & daring, Friday night’s performance will markedly differ from Saturday’s – so it’ll be just as surprising for the musicians as the audience!
Taikoz is also premiering a new work by Cleworth called 5 for 3º. The piece grew out of a study composed for colleagues while in lockdown last year.
The audience size for these performances is limited to 120 per show due to COVID regulations so book early to avoid disappointment. Face masks are also required for audience members
