The IFAC Australian Singing Competition is open for entries. If you’re under 26 years of age as at 23 June 2014, you could be eligible to enter Australasia’s richest and very prestigious competition for young opera and classical singers.

Singers from across Australia and New Zealand are invited to compete for the Marianne Mathy Scholarship (‘The Mathy’) as well as an array of valuable career-building awards and opportunities.

Acclaimed baritone Jeffrey Black returns as this year’s National Adjudicator. Jeffrey brings to the Competition over thirty years of experience in singing and teaching. Jeffrey won the Marianne Mathy Scholarship in 1983, an achievement which launched him onto the international stage and which gives him a special insight into the entrants’ experience of the Competition. He also served as National Adjudicator for the Competition in 2012

This year for the first time, the IFAC Australian Singing Competition is holding Heats in London. Australian or New Zealand singers living in the UK or Europe, can participate in the heats to be held at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London on Wednesday 2 July, adjudicated by Yvonne Kenny and Linnhe Robertson.

As well there are three new prizes from the Lyric Opera of Chicago, the Adler-Buchmann scholarship from Tel Aviv University, and the Bel Canto Summer School in Munich.
