In news from The Song Company, Artistic Director  Roland Peelman has been  appointed Artistic Director of the Canberra International Music Festival from 2015 to 2017.

In a statement released recently, The Song Company announced that Roland Peelman’s role will commence  in April 2014 replacing the current CIMF Director, Chris Latham. Roland Peelman will fulfil his new role  alongside his existing  commitments to The Song Company as he continues to oversee all artistic planning and direction of the  company.
“Roland’s  new role with CIMF is the natural extension of a long standing  and mutually beneficial relationship between the Festival and the Song Company.  Roland and the Song Company have featured at  the festival for several years presenting  many extraordinary concerts there. At this year’s festival, this included Sculthorpe’s Great South Land, broadcast live by ABC Classic FM, the special Wagner concert featuring Act III of Parsifal, as well as the concert  featuring work by Gavin Bryars, and the premiere of Andrew Ford’s Australian Aphorisms, commissioned for the  Song Company.  Both organisations look forward to working  together in order to build audiences and engage young people   in fine music making. Negotiations are currently underway to feature the Song Company’s Young Artists as part of CIMF’s  Sproggis-Woods Young Artists program in  2014.”
