Congratulations to conductor Carolyn Watson who has won the annual 2013 Brian Stacey Award for Emerging Australian Conductors under the auspices of the Helpmann Awards.  As the winner of the award, Carolyn  Watson receives an $8000 prize.

The Brian Stacey Memorial Trust was launched in 1997 on the first anniversary of the death of Brian Stacey. The Trust Fund in his name serves to commemorate the life, the work and the contribution to musical life, of Australian Conductor Brian Stacey, who was tragically killed in a motor vehicle accident in October 1996.

The Fund aims to provide support to conductors in Australia who wish to enhance their conducting skills, in particular by exploring performance genres outside their normal field of work.

Previous winners include Guy Noble (1998), Benjamin Northey (2003) and Daniel Carter (2012).
