Central Coast Opera presents Giacomo Puccini’s much-loved La bohème, conducted by Patrick Brennan and directed by Warwick Doddrell.

An affiliate of Central Coast Conservatorium, Central Coast Opera’s production, of La bohème, is set to continue the successful run of productions delivered by this growing opera company. Following successful productions of Bizet’s Carmen in 2017, Mozart’s The Magic Flute in 2016 and Menotti’s Help, Help The Globolinks! in 2013, La bohème promises to leave the audience spellbound!

La bohème is the quintessential love story about a group of friends – a writer, a painter, a musician, a singer, a seamstress and a philosopher living a bohemian life in Paris.

This is one of Puccini’s true masterpieces, featuring some of the most famous arias of all time with lush duets, rowdy crowd scenes, and comical catfights taking place under the streetlights of Paris. The tender love affair unfolds under gently falling snow as the Mimi and Rodolfo experience the joy of love and the jealousy of passion as the young bohemians step up to life’s challenges with courage and conviction.

Director Warwick Doddrell, has set this timeless love story in post war Paris in 1945. He delicately explores the concepts of love, in a world focused on commercialism, set to the backdrop of one of the world’s most romantic cities embarking on a journey of rediscovery.

La bohème reminds us through heartachingly beautiful songs that the riches worth having are within us and no matter what the measure of our lives may be, wealth is about the magnitude of the human spirit and the depth of the human soul.

Sung in English, the Central Coast Chamber Orchestra will accompany all performances.
