The Collegium Musicum Choir presents the rich traditions of French choral music, performing the works of some of its greatest composers renowned for their supple approaches to writing for the voice.
Directed in this second concert of the 2014 season by Sonia Maddock, the vibrant Collegium Musicum Choir, resident at the University of New South Wales, presents a glorious setting of the mass by Charles Gounod and the delightful Oratorio de Noel of Camille Saint-Saens, a contemporary of Gounod’s and one of his most ardent admirers. Debussy’s Trois chansons d’Orleans, performed by the Burgundian Consort, rounds out what promises to be a concert of charm, warmth, and elegance.
