Selby & Friends – Swedish Delight
Swedish cello legend Torleif Thedéen will headline chamber music group Selby and Friends’ next Australian tour this September in a programme which includes Beethoven’s Sonata in G minor for cello and piano, opus 5 no 2.
Thedéen is a prolific performer in the concert halls, festivals and chamber salons of the world and on disc for the major labels. He has worked with the best – the Royal Philharmonic, City of Birmingham SO, BBC Philharmonic, the Hallé Orchestra and Dresden Staatskapelle, with conductors like Esa‐Pekka Salonen, Neeme Järvi and Franz Welser‐Möst, in venues which include the Concertgebouw, Carnegie Hall and Wigmore Hall. He has recorded for DG, BIS, EMI and Decca.
The program’s centrepiece is the world premiere of a new work by Paul Dean, especially commissioned by Selby and Friends’ audience.
