This Sunday, the Italian Opera Foundation of Australia holds the final of its vocal competition in which six singers will compete for a scholarship to Italy worth $50,000.
Angela Brun, Jin Hee Uhm, Amy Corkery, Natalie Aroyan, and Celeste Haworth, all from NSW and Kang Wang (QLD) along with Reserve Finalist Erika Simons (NSW) were selected during the heats of the Sydney Eisteddfod McDonald’s Operatic Aria competition.
The winner will spend 6 months in Italy studying language and voice in Siena, with opportunities to attend master classes, concerts and absorb everything on offer in the medieval city with its distinctive pink shell -shaped campo.
Adjudicating the final are Malcolm Donnelly AM, Lyndon Terracini and John Wregg. Guest artistes tenor Aldo di Toro and soprano Tiffany Speight will perform with pianist Julia de Plater accompanying the singers.
