To mark its official birthday on 6 May 2015, the Sydney Conservatorium will present an epic performance of Mass by Leonard Bernstein, staged at the Sydney Opera House and performed by over 400 high school and tertiary students, staff and alumni of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and guest performers from Sydney Children’s Choir.

This theatrical piece for singers, players and performers, was commissioned by Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis in memory of her late husband John F Kennedy. It premiered in 1971 for the opening of the John F Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington DC.

Several of the Conservatorium’s ensembles, including the symphony orchestra, jazz and blues ensembles, opera singers and choirs will take to the stage for this landmark event, conducted by Maestro Eduardo Diazmuñoz with Barry Ryan as the celebrant.
