The Marais Project At The NZ International Early Music Festival
Feel like a musical holiday overseas and a fan of early music? The Marais Project kicks of its 2015 season with a guest appearance at the second New Zealand International Early Music Festival (NZIEMF) to be held in Dunedin, New Zealand from February 27th to March 8th.
The Marais Project directed by gamba player Jennifer Eriksson will present a feature concert at the festival called Viol Dreaming. The original core Marais Project ensemble consisting of soprano Belinda Montgomery, gambists Eriksson and Catherine Upex and lutenist, Tommie Andersson. The concert features music from 3 of their CDs.
Artistic Director Jennifer Eriksson will also lead an early music master class on the afternoon of Sunday March 8th and provide continuo support for a concert of music by Blow and Purcell on the evening of Sunday March 8th
“The Festival in the brainchild of Artistic Director and Founder, Christopher John Clifford”, explained Jenny Eriksson, “An English early musician who immigrated quite recently to New Zealand.” “He has worked long and hard to get the Festival up and running and we were thrilled to be asked to perform there.”
Other events include a Renaissance Choral Evensong, a Baroque style workshop, music of the Italian Renaissance and Baroque Trio Sonatas.
