A capella vocal quartet The Idea of North (TION) is launching a new album of seasonal favourites which they have called This Christmas.

The ARIA award winning ensemble will perform selections from this CD in a series of pre- Christmas concerts around the east coast, combining their signature harmonies and pure toned blend. Joining them will be jazz legend, trombonist James Morrison. This Christmas follows TION’s last CD Extraordinary Tale, released in July 2011, which enjoyed terrific success.

This Christmas contains a mix of sacred and secular classics including carols like Hark! The Herald Angels Sing and Once in Royal David’s City alongside Mary’s Boy Child which features James Morrison, and Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas.

The album launch tour begins with Christmas by Candlelight for all the family, in the beautiful St. Stephen’s church in Newtown, popular with Sydney audiences and which will sparkle with candlelight. Then it’s on to one of the greatest jazz venues in Australia, The Basement at Circular Quay. There are also shows at Lizotte’s at Dee Why and in Newcastle, and The Concourse in Chatswood.

This Christmas is available at ABC shops and at ABC on-line http://shop.abc.net.au/products/idea-of-north-this-christ-cd
