Royal Australia Navy Band Sydney Chamber Ensemble In Concert

Banner Sacred Heart Church Chamber Series 24 May 16

The defence forces are well-known for the rousing music they perform at ceremonial occasions. Now you can hear them in concert  when the Commodores Chamber Ensembles from the Royal Australian Navy Band, Sydney perform a chamber music program featuring works for two flutes, solo vibraphone and a woodwind trio.

Six gifted full-time musicians from the RAN Band in Sydney will perform a diverse program which includes Ecstatic Dances by Ross Edwards, a clever reworking of the pop classic Over the Rainbow for solo vibraphone, contrasted with a more serious work by Beethoven for woodwind trio.

The concert is part of  the Lunchtime Chamber Series 2016 presented by the University of Notre Dame’s campus in Darlinghurst, in the inner city. The Lunchtime Chamber Series 2016 consists of six free concerts open to all who love chamber music.

These concerts afford a rare opportunity to hear the Commodores Chamber Groups, who usually perform for the unique and private VIP receptions within Australia and overseas. They have performed for numerous dignitaries including members of world royalty and VIPs, among them, Princes Charles, William and Henry, the King and Queen of Spain, the King and Princess of Tonga, the Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, the Governor of New South Wales, various Chiefs of Defence Forces and Chiefs of Navies.

Tickets: No bookings required. The concert is free and all are welcome to attend!
