Sydney Art Quartet’s ‘Crossroads’ gathers Music, Drama And Installation Art
Sydney Art Quartet presents Crossroads, featuring Steve Reich’s intensely moving Different Trains, combined with a dramatic theatre and cinema installation and special guest artists.
Crossroads poignantly and dramatically explores human rights, the Holocaust & Survivor Syndrome using music, human movement, archival and art footage & vocal testimony.
Crossroads features a rare performance of the Steve Reich’s Grammy Award-winning Different Trains and will also include an oversized cinema installation by Gabriela Sá and Mariana Garcia (Brazil), choreography by Anton Projects (Bangarra Dance Theatre) and vocals from young singing sensation, Avital Greenberg.
Created by Sydney Art Quartet Artistic Director James Beck, Crossroads weaves historic and contemporary stories into a concert experience that will touch multiple senses. Since 2015 the Sydney Art Quartet has created over 100 performances with some of their most exciting creatives, including David Wenham, John Olsen and Bill Henson, often using experimental elements such as scent, blindfolds, and choreography to tell stories of human struggle, lost cultures and the natural world.
Emanuel Synagogue is the home where people can live their Judaism in a contemporary world, while drawing on ancient teachings and traditions. Welcoming all to its pluralistic, dynamic and diverse community, the synagogue is also a cultural hub for the Jewish and wider community, hosting outstanding musical, theatrical & other arts events.
