Phoenix Collective Sessions @ Wayside Chapel Present Gutsy Tango
March 8, 2021 @ 12:00 pm
Phoenix Collective Sessions announces its upcoming series Phoenix Collective Sessions @ Wayside Chapel, a fresh and informal lunchtime concert series which is set at the iconic Wayside Chapel.
The concerts are especially for people who have never experienced live classical music or don’t have the means to. The Wayside Chapel supports vulnerable members of the community and mental health projects. These concerts are open to people of all walks of life and we will play music that is inclusive, integrating and focused on bringing people together.
The first concert of 2021, Knife in the Boot, features Maggie Ferguson (Potts Point), founder of TangoOz and a legend in her own right. With Maggie on bandoneon, Edward Neeman on piano, Isabella Brown on Double Bass and Phoenix Collective director and violinist Dan Russell, the ensemble will explore early and traditional music from the birthplace of Tango, Buenos Aires and music by the father of Nuevo Tango, Astor Piazzolla. Not the usual Hollywood, rose-in-the-teeth, but the knife in the boot style of Tango.
Concerts in Canberra and on the NSW Central Coast as well.
