Art Song Recital By Andrew Goodwin And Sonya Lifschitz

Musica Viva Australia’s second Morning Masters concert of 2022 brings together two powerhouse performers: tenor Andrew Goodwin and pianist Sonya Lifschitz. Artists of rare quality, they share a formidable technique and peerless ability to communicate character and emotion. Together Goodwin and Lifschitz will present choice selections from the art song repertoire, transporting you to a world of poetry and dreams.

Each piece works as a self-contained scene that conjures whole worlds in just a few minutes. Expect to hear cherished works by Schumann, (Die Lotosblume, Widmung), Fauré (Après un rêve, Au bord de l’eau), Strauss (Morgen, Zueignung), Mahler (Wo Die Schönen Trompeten Blasen) and many more. Scriabin’s Nocturne for the Left Hand puts Lifschitz in the spotlight, while a trio of extraordinary songs by fellow Russian master Rachmaninoff sees both performers close out the concert in high style.
