A chamber-style ‘Messiah’
Handel’s timeless masterpiece Messiah is being performed this weekend by the choir of St Mary’s Cathedral, Sydney with orchestra and soloists soprano Kim Dover, bass Alex Knight and featuring trumpeter Paul Goodchild.
Conducted by Thomas Wilson, the choir features the men and boys of the St Mary’s Cathedral Choir. This smaller vocal ensemble along with chamber-style orchestra will provide a fresh interpretation of Handel’s Messiah. The choir maintains a busy liturgical schedule and it’s a rare treat to be able to hear them away from their usual venue, especially in the acoustic of the space that is the former Dominican Priory of Holy Name Church.
Messiah weaves together all the power and poignancy of the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, through some of the most beautiful music in the sacred repertoire.
There will be an interval with tea, coffee wine and champagne.
Please note there is limited parking on site, and it is recommended that patrons bring a cushion to sit on for their comfort.
