A Singer’s Musical Life Journey – Brad Cooper for Sydney Opera Society

Opera Australia tenor Brad Cooper is preparing to sing the role of the Second Jew in Richard Strauss’ Salome opening in Sydney on March 6th, with a star cast of young Australian singers and a couple of foreign superstars. Brad also performed in Wozzeck, and last year in The Nose.

In this presentation by the Sydney Opera Society, Brad will talk about his musical life’s journey.  Born in Sydney, he studied at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, National Opera Studio (London), and the Music Academy of the West (California). He has won many awards, including the Australian Opera Auditions Committee ‘Dame Joan Sutherland Award’.

He has sung for Opera Australia,  as Albert in Albert Herring, Fourth Jew in Salome, Nemorino in L’elisir d’amore, Tamino in the Magic Flute and Pang in Turandot. He also sings the occasional cabaret.

For other companies, Brad has sung Tamino Die Zauberflöte and Belmonte Die Entführung aus dem Serail (Oper Köln). Don Alonse L’Amant Jaloux (Opéra Comique), Gunther Die Feen (Théâtre du Châtelet).  He sang Count Almaviva in Barbiere di Siviglia for Opera Holland Park.  He has sung in Amsterdam and at the Wexford Festival, and for the English National Opera.
