Acacia Quartet Fundraiser Aims For Berlin

As well as a busy schedule of performing, Acacia Quartet has been organising their annual fundraiser.

Last year’s inaugural fundraiser raised the funds that launched their Children’s Concerts, moved their concert series ‘Acacia Presents…’ to the Utzon Room at the Sydney Opera House, brought their mentor Emile Cantor out to Australia for a month of masterclasses and concerts, and paid for a brand new composition by Sally Whitwell, which they will be presenting in November.

Acacia Quartet invites you to Burradoo for their 2016 fundraiser which aims to raise funds to help them travel to Berlin in April 2017 for a month of intense masterclasses, concerts and recording sessions. The ensemble has been invited to Berlin by the Günter Raphael Society to perform and record three of Raphael’s string quartets, to coincide with his 114th birthday. They will be performing several concerts of the string quartets in Berlin before recording them.

Whilst in Berlin, they plan to make use of the opportunity to have masterclasses with members of the Artemis and Orpheus Quartets. Funds raised will go towards air travel and the cost of masterclasses.

The fundraiser evening will include performances by Acacia, wine and catering, raffles, a music quiz and an auction of superb prizes, including a sea plane trip, a Captain’s Dinner with Captain Cook Cruises and a private concert by Acacia Quartet.
