Alexander Knight Sings Dichterliebe
Resonance Concerts and Events presents baritone Alexander Knight and pianist Chris Cartner performing Robert Schumann’s romantic masterpiece, Dichterliebe opus 48, (A Poet’s Love), a cycle of 16 songs which paint a sensitive musical picture of the poet’s affections inspired by dreams, fairy-tales and the natural world.
Composed in 184o, it is the best-known song cycle of Robert Schumann (Op. 48). The texts for the 16 songs come from the Lyrisches Intermezzo of Heinrich Heine, composed 1822–1823, published as part of the poet’s Das Buch der Lieder.
Resonance concerts run for one hour, after which complimentary drinks receptions take place at both its Lavender Bay at Annandale venues. These wonderful occasions offer opportunities to socialise in beautiful surroundings and chat with the artists.
Tickets $20/25.
