An Italian Romance With ARCO
Romance is the theme for the year as ARCO, the Australian Romantic and Classical Orchestra presents Italian Romance, featuring the music of Beethoven and Mendelssohn.
This inspired ensemble of historically informed performers bring a revitalised spirit and energy to these masterpieces by Beethoven and Mendelssohn, conducted by the brilliant Benjamin Bayl, principal guest conductor of the ensemble.
The program includes Beethoven’s Coriolan Overture, the twelve playful Contredanses and the sublime Romance for violin, performed by concertmaster Rachael Beesley.
After the interval the full string orchestra playing on pure gut strings, will perform Wolf’s Italian Serenade for Strings followed by Mendelssohn’s Italian’ Symphony in A major.
