The 58th Annual Grammy Awards are done and dusted. If you’re looking to expand your playlist with some of these winning recordings –
There were eight awards in the classical categories which included Best Classical Contemporary Composition and Best Classical Compendium alongside the more long-standing categories for the best in vocal and instrumental music.
Andris Nelsons with the Boston Symphony Orchestra won in the Best Orchestral Recording category for Shostakovich: Under Stalin’s Shadow – Symphony No. 10 on Deutsche Grammophon;
Best Opera Recording went to Ravel: L’Enfant Et Les Sortilèges; Shéhérazade, Seiji Ozawa, conducting the Saito Kinen Orchestra, the SKF Matsumoto Chorus and SKF Matsumoto Children’s Chorus with mezzo-soprano Isabel Leonard on the Decca label;
Eighth Blackbird won the Best Chamber Music/Small Ensemble Award for Filament with Cedille Records.
