Come to the cabaret with Art Song NSW
Art Song NSW takes a different angle on dramatic songs when it presents Artsong Cabaret with the Marianna Ensemble.
The Marianna Ensmeble will re-create the world of cabaret with guests sitting around tables as they’re entertained by the music of Stephen Sondheim and Cole Porter. Discover too, music written by two of the performers Maria Okunev and pianist John Martin.
Sisters Maria and Anna Okunev formed the Marianna Ensemble as a Russian duo in 2001, with Maria singing and playing the piano and guitar and Anna playing the violin. In 2009 they were joined by Blake Keep, also a guitarist and Richard Savery playing clarinets and saxophone. Amongst them they have a broad repertoire drawn from backgrounds in opera, jazz, folk and contemporary music.
In this peformance for Art Song NSW, the Marianna Ensemble is joined by pianist John Martin in an afternoon of music that includes the classics as well the contemporary in cabaret.
Tickets $40 (Conc $30) includes refreshments and programmes.
