Ensemble Offspring Celebrates A Decade of ‘Sizzle’
From art music to pop and everything in-between, Ensemble Offspring’s Sizzle returns for its 10th year of free, family-friendly aural delights and adventures.
This year, Ensemble Offspring is joined by a school concert band, a remount of some of the songs of Seven Stories featuring Jodi Phillis of The Clouds, our Hatched Academy Associate Artist Henry Justo on viola and much more musical goodness.
Bring the family and revel in the fun and raucous variety show that is Ensemble Offspring’s annual Sizzle. This is a free event.
The program: Minor Works – a reimagining of Bree van Reyk’s recent project for school band performed by 2044 Band (Tempe & St Peters PS band), Ensemble Offspring and Newtown Performing Arts High School students, conducted by Murray Jackson, Alice Chance and Jason Noble / Alice Chance – The Ice Skaters (WP) /Bree van Reyk – Signs and Signals /Jess Green – Battleactica /Jason Noble – new work (WP)/ Jodi Phillis – Becoming, arrangements from Jodi Phillis’ latest album with Ensemble Offspring as the backup band

Henry Justo – works for viola solo and electronics by Nico Muhly – Etude No 1, Missy Mazzoli – A Thousand Tongues and Hildegard von Bingen – O virtus sapiente/Item de virginibus with special guests Jason Noble, Véronique Serret & Jodi Phillis/ Cat Hope and Kate Moore – new works for flutes and electronics, featuring Lamorna Nightingale (flute) in an immersive installation environment downstairs
