Ensemble Offspring Showcases 2017 ‘Hatchlings’
Ensemble Offspring’s springboard for emerging composers Hatched Academy, presents the works of four successful composers to enter their 2017 training programme. These four successful ‘Hatchlings’ were chosen from over 60 applications. They are Ciaran Frame (NSW composer), Luke Carbon (VIC clarinet + sax), Jasmin Leung (QLD composer) and Kieran Welch (QLD viola). The concert will feature the premieres of several new works by these writers.
Throughout the year, the composers are working closely with Berlin-based Australian composer and guest mentor, Cathy Milliken. The performers will work with US-based Australian vocalist and guest mentor, Jessica Aszodi as well as members of Ensemble Offspring and will have the opportunity to perform alongside them throughout the year.
PROGRAM: Jasmin Leung – new work (quartet)/ Ciaran Frame – new work (quartet)/ Claude Vivier – Pièce pour violon et clarinette (duo)/ Ori Talmon – 3 visits to Meun (vocal solo)/ Louis Andriessen – Worker’s Union (ensemble)/ Cathy Milliken – The Space of Object (ensemble).
