Especially For Children From The Willoughby Symphony
An opportunity for younger music lovers to explore the magical world of classical music with Willoughby Symphony’s Pictures at an Exhibition – Children’s Concert .
Willoughby Symphony Conductor and Artistic Director, Dr Nicholas Milton will direct this 50 minute concert designed specifically for 3 to 12 year olds, introducing children to orchestral music and telling the story of the Russian masterpiece, Pictures at an Exhibition. Nick will engage and entertain attendees as he involves the audience in a fun and fascinating orchestral performance by one of Australia’s leading community orchestras.
“Pictures at an Exhibition tells the story of the composer’s journey through an art exhibition – it describes the mood as he walks between pictures and it portrays the composer’s reactions to the paintings and sketches, which are extraordinary illustrative,” said Dr Milton. “In this not-to-be missed children’s concert, kids will have the opportunity to hear and understand this music, and to interact with the performers on stage,” he said.
After hearing and learning about the Pictures at an Exhibition masterpiece, children will have the chance to paint their own inspired ‘Pictures at an Exhibition’ with a fun art and craft activity.
