Augustin Hadelich Exclusive Appearance With The Sydney Symphony And Donald Runnicles

Grammy Award-winning violinist Augustin Hadelich will make his Australian debut in September in three performances exclusive to the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, performing Brahms’ Violin Concerto in D major opus 77.
This concert series also welcomes back the Sydney Symphony’s Principal Guest Conductor Sir Donald Runnicles OBE and features the world premiere of Pyramidion, A Fifty Fanfares Commission by Melody Eötvös. Celebrated for his mastery of Romantic and post-Romantic works, Sir Donald will lead the orchestra in Bruckner’s Symphony No.3, popularly known as his ‘Wagner Symphony’ and famous for its waves of glorious sound and themes, contrasts of intimacy and radiance which give way to a surging, triumphant finale.
At 38 years of age, Augustin Hadelich is already hailed as one of the great violinists of our time. From Bach to Brahms, Bartók to Adès, he has mastered a wide-ranging and adventurous repertoire. Named Musical America’s 2018 “Instrumentalist of the Year,” he is consistently cited worldwide for his phenomenal technique, soulful approach, and insightful interpretations. He is the winner of the 2016 Grammy Award for “Best Classical Instrumental Solo” for his recording of Dutilleux’s complex violin concerto, L’Arbre des songes. A Warner Classics Artist, his most recent release is a Grammy-nominated double CD of the Six Solo Sonatas and Partitas of Johann Sebastian Bach.
