Bach Akademie Australia’s Christmas Oratorio

Bach Akademie Australia’s full orchestra and choir join forces to celebrate the sanctity of the nativity and the wonder of the Christmas season in Johann Sebastian Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, performed in Sydney and Chatswood.
In true baroque style, the singers and instrumentalists will create an exultant and divine musical offering. Over six cantatas Bach takes us on a journey through the Christmas story from the birth of Jesus, the visitation of the shepherds, the adoration of the Magi, the new year and finally, the Epiphany.
Artistic Director Madeleine Easton is joined by Australia’s leading specialist instrumentalists and vocal soloists Andrew Goodwin, Susannah Lawergren, David Greco. Bonnie de la Hunty, Timothy Reynolds and Hannah Fraser, in Bach’s seasonal masterpiece.
There are two performances, the first at the City Recital Hall, Angel Place on Friday 8 November at 6.30 pm and the second at Our Lady of Dolours Church, Chatswood, on Sunday 8 November at 2.30 pm, cantatas 1,2 and 5 only.
Friday’s performance will be streamed on Australian Digital Concert Hall.
