Brahms Two Piano Works In Con Recital
September 17 @ 7:00 pm
Renowned pianists and Sydney Conservatorium staff members Alexander Yau and Nicholas Kennedy join forces in this impressive program for the Sydney Con Staff Music Series, showcasing virtuosity, passion, depth, and the combined interpretive insight of two long-time friends and collaborators.
The concert features two monumental works by Johannes Brahms, the four-movement Sonata for Two Pianos Op. 34b a transcription of Brahms’s famous Piano Quintet and the Variations on a Theme by Haydn Op. 56b, based on the theme of Joseph Haydn’s Chorale St. Antoni. Showcasing virtuosity, passion, depth, and the combined interpretive insight of two long-time friends and collaborators, this is a concert not to be missed.
Yau has recently returned from two month in Europe where he conducted excerpts of La Boheme in Slovenia and performed Beethoven’s Piano Concerto no. 3 with the Budweis Philharmonic Orchestra in Switzerland and Mozart’s Piano Concerto no. 23 with the Orchestra Sinfonica Duchi D’Acquavia in the Teatro Commune of Atri in Italy, as well as a solo recital and chamber concert in the beautiful Oslo Museum with violinist Ole Bohn!
