Castalia Vocal Consort ‘Her Eyes’

Castalia Vocal Consort presents Her Eyes, a musical and artistic exploration of Mary as a woman outside of her spiritual status. This concert, described as a A Young Woman’s Journey of Nativity features music by Alice Chance, Brooke Shelley, Herbert Howells, Elliot Gyger and Francis Poulenc, paired with the artworks of artists including Botticelli, Da Vinci, and Picasso, projected onto the walls of the gallery.

The narrative of a virgin journeying to motherhood has inspired great artists and composers for thousands of years. Its focus is often on her purity, her spiritual devotion, and without reference to the mental and physical struggles of pregnancy as a young woman.
