Ensemble Offspring Presents Incredible Floridas

Incredible Floridas is Ensemble Offspring’s June concert featuring Richard Meale’s homage to the surrealist poetry of Arthur Rimbaud. Fifty years on from its London premiere, EO is reviving this landmark piece of Australian chamber music in an immersive staging with creative director Michelle St Anne.

Flanking this masterpiece in the shadowy surrounds of Carriageworks are world premieres from Augustin Braud and Josephine Macken, both of whom draw inspiration from Meale’s brooding and complex musical language. Finally in the program, a rendition of Martin Wesley-Smith’s quirky For Marimba and Tape, featuring sounds from Sydney’s iconic Fairlight CMI synthesiser.
