Hatched Academy Showcase 2023

The Hatched Composer Showcase presents an evening of fresh ideas, celebrating the next generation of musical thinkers. THey are Isabella Rahme (NSW), Noemi Liba Friedman (VIC), Matthew Laing (VIC), Isabella Gerometta (QLD) and Jessica Lindsay Smith (VIC).

Five new works written by emerging composers from across the country will be showcased in the culmination of Ensemble Offspring’s 2023 Hatched Composer Intensive. The conclusion of this annual mentorship with Ensemble Offspring and international composers including former Artistic Director Damien Ricketson and Hatched Academy Ambassador Brett Dean, the program unites Australia’s emerging and established musical trailblazers.

Each composer has written a new work for Ensemble Offspring’s quintet of flute, clarinet, violin, cello and percussion. In early November, the composers, Damien and the Ensemble Offspring musicians will meet for an intensive week of workshops, rehearsals and industry information sessions at Brand X, designed to kickstart a successful career in music composition.

The week comes to a close with the Composer Showcase, elevating these premieres in a professional performance setting where tha audience can hear, meet and support these voices of the next generation.
