New Vocal Ensemble Castalia Launches In Sydney
February 12, 2022 @ 5:00 pm
Castalia Vocal Consort group launches in Sydney in February with an exciting new line-up of voices and music in Hotheads and Lovers.
Castalia’s debut program, Hotheads and Lovers speaks of lust, longing and unrequited love from the courts of the Italian Renaissance, to the grungy laneways of NYC. Hear the sublime music of the old masters Barbara Strozzi, Carlo Gesualdo and Claudio Monteverdi, with modern gems by Michael Finnissy, Caroline Shaw and Salvatore Sciarrino. Hotheads and Lovers traces the development of the vocal chamber ensemble from stile antico to the modern day.
Joint artistic directors of Castalia, Soprano Amy Moore and alto Stephanie Dillon have garnered some of Australia’s finest voices several of whom perform with major ensembles both in Australia and overseas. After rescheduling several times in 2021, Castalia is ready to launch with its live concert in February 2022 which will be streamed on Australian Digital Concert Hall in March.
The performers: Chloe Lankshear/ Amy Moore/ Stephanie Dillon/ Christopher Watson/ Louis Hurley/ Phil Murray with Simon Martyn-Ellis playing the theorbo.
