Sirius Ensemble Celebrates A Decade
June 5, 2021 @ 7:30 pm
This year, the Sirius Chamber Ensemble celebrates 10 years of performing. After such a remarkably challenging 2020, when performing artists worldwide were impacted by COVID-19, they are delighted to celebrate this milestone with a live performance of music close to their hearts.
From the very beginning, Sirius Chamber Ensemble sought to program classic chamber music repertoire alongside new music. Over the last decade they have worked with so many talented colleagues, both performers and Australian composers who have written for the ensemble and shared their passion for chamber music.
For their 10th Anniversary Concert they have chosen music written for the ensemble, alongside chamber music repertoire loved by their audiences and includes masterpieces by Max Bruch, Gustav Mahler, Nino Rota, Guillaume Connesson and Nigel Butterley as well as recent Australian music by Paul Smith, Eve Duncan, Corrina Bonshek and Tony Wheeler.
Melissa Coleman (flute), Ian Sykes (clarinet), Alison Evans (bassoon), Clare Kahn (cello) and Claire Howard Race (piano) will be joined by original ensemble member Georgina Price (viola) and their most popular guest artist, soprano Taryn Srhoj.
