Sydney University Graduate Choir Sings The Creation

Sydney University Graduate Choir and orchestra conducted by Christopher Bowen OAM, ends its 2023 concert series with Haydn’s The Creation and welcomes its Sydney Sings…® guest choristers to sing with them.

Featuring soloists soprano Lana Kains, tenor Richard Butler and bass Andrew O’Connor, this masterwork with its monumental choruses and vivid arias cemented Haydn’s fame across Europe and depicts the creation of the world as described in the Book of Genesis and Milton’s Paradise Lost. It is a glorious celebration of the wonders of life.

This oratorio was immediately successful for its exuberance, originality, classical elegance and intellectual power. Today it remains one of the most joyful and enjoyable choral works for both audience and performers.
