Sydney’s Winter Organ Festival

Change of venue: In an exciting up date, The Masterclass with Olivier Latry from 6-8 pm on 11 July, will now be held in the Concert Hall at the Sydney Opera House. Admission is free.
The Organ Music Society of Sydney will be holding a Winter Festival from Sunday, 7 July till Thursday,11 July, 2024.
There will be several events during the festival, including a tour, concerts and talks. All concerts are free. There will be a Masterclass given by Olivier Latry, organist of Notre Dame Cathedral, Paris. (Details below).
The program:
Sunday, 7 July, 3.45pm: a tour of three instruments at Sydney University (including The Great Hall, Wesley College and St Paul’s College)
Monday, 8 July Two organ recitals by leading organists:
1.10pm St Philip’s Church Hill York Street, Sydney. Organist Bailey Yeates will perform on the 1874 Walker organ that is 150 years old this year.
4pm St Patrick’s Church Hill Grosvenor Street, featuring Stacey Xiaoyu Yang
Tuesday, 9 July
1.10pm St Philip’s Church Hill York street, Sydney. Organist Marko Sever will perform on the 1874 Walker organ that is 150 years old this year.
4pm St Peter Julian’s Church Haymarket; the artist is Kurt Ison
Thursday 11 July Masterclass with Olivier Latry, organist at Notre Dame Cathedral, Paris. Held at the Sydney Opera House from 6-8pm, featuring advanced organ students from across the country. Admission is free.
There is a reception at the nearby Royal Automobile Club, 89 Macquarie Street, Sydney (less than 10mins walk from the Opera House). Pre-booking for the reception is essential and payment details are in this link.
