The Opera and Song Collective (TOSC) presents Pergolesi’s timeless masterpiece, Stabat Mater in an hour-long concert of Easter performed by the women of the ensemble.
The programme includes Litanies à la vierge noire, a mystical vocal work for female voices composed by Francis Poulenc and Ave Maria by Saint -Saëns.
The concert will be conducted by Maestro Simon Kenway and accompanied on pipe organ by Jassen Rose who also performs Ave Maria d’Arcadelt by Liszt.
TOSC aims to bring joy to its audiences and satisfaction to its artists through excellence in the preparation, presentation and performance of song and excerpts from stage works that are popular and which also less commonly grace Australia platforms, including works by Australian composers. Its performances aim to include audiences less able to attend performances by virtue of distance, infirmity or other barrier.
TOSC was created during lockdown as singers and coaches learnt new material and worked online. The ensemble presented four concerts in 2023, performing music based on a broad range of themes and repertoire, in a variety of different languages.
The performers: Sopranos: Dana Kingsford, Kerry Nicholson, Laura Scandizzo, Anna Tafani, Emily Turner/ Altos: Genevieve Dickson, Daniella Ehrlich, Deborah Rogers, Jill Sullivan
Conductor: Simon Kenway/ Organ: Jassen Rose
The concert is also performed at 2pm Sunday 24th at St Peter’s Anglican Church, Watson’s Bay
