DESCRIPTION:Piano+ presents Andrey Gugnin\, winner of the 2016 Sydney International Piano Competition in recital in Sydney and Mebourne. \nThe recitals will include works by Edvard Grieg\, Pyotr Tchaikovsky and Australian composer Carl Vine\, along with the Three Bagatelles by Valentin Silvestrov before concluding with Stravinsky/Agnosti’s challenging The Firebird. Gugnin is a magnetic performer who is in high demand worldwide as a recitalist\, chamber music partner and concerto soloist\, \nThese concerts will mark the return by Andrey to Australia since his highly successful national tour in 2017\, appearances at the Coriole Festival in 2018 and concerto collaborations with the Sydney and West Australian Symphony Orchestra before the pandemic. \nAndrey has released numerous CDs\, with his recording of Shostakovich’s solo piano works (Hyperion) winning the 2020 BBC music magazine awards for best Instrumentals.
