Fairy Tales from The Seraphim Trio
In their final concert for 2014, The Seraphim Trio presents an enchanting programme of fantasy, fairy tales, words and music. In the programme are Dvorak’s dramatic Piano Trio No. 3 alongside the delightful Fairy Tale by Janacek. The trio will premiere a new arrangement of Ravel’s Ma mere l’oye, (Mother Goose) by Melbourne composer Benjamin Martin interspersed with Peter Goldsworthy’s witty and incisive new meditations on the same children’s classic, cheekily titled Playing Fast and Loose with Mother Goose.
The Seraphim Trio is regarded to be one of Australia’s finest piano trios praised for its ‘absolute sonic cohesion and uniform musical maturity’ (The Australian, 2013).
In 2014, the members of Seraphim Trio – Anna Goldsworthy, piano, Helen Ayres, violin and Tim Nankervis- cello, celebrate 20 years together.
The programme:
Janacek Pohadka (Fairy Tale) for cello and piano
Dvorak Piano Trio No. 3 in F minor, Op. 65
Ravel, arr. Benjamin Martin* Ma mere l’oye (Mother Goose)
Peter Goldsworthy Playing Fast and Loose with Mother Goose*
