Favourites Feature In Opera In The Domain
Some of opera’s finest local and international artists will gather under the stars for an evening of popular music from opera in Mazda Opera in the Domain.
Pack a picnic basket, grab a rug and come along for this free outdoor concert which is part of the Sydney Festival.
Four of Opera Australia’s finest soloists will perform music by Rossini, Bizet, Puccini, Lehar and a wealth of other composers. Russian soprano Elvira Fatykhova, mezzo‐soprano Sian Pendry, Korean tenor Ho-Yoon Chung and baritone Luke Gabbedy will be accompanied by the Opera Australia Orchestra conducted by Anthony Legge, with ABC Classic FM’s Christopher Lawrence and entertainer Rob Mills sharing the Master of Ceremonies duties.

Opera in the Domain has been held annually since 1982, when Dame Joan Sutherland sang La Traviata. To commemorate its fifth year as Principal Sponsor of Opera Australia. A range of food and beverages are available in The Domain from late afternoon to the end of the evening, or patrons can bring their own picnics. For the comfort of Mazda Opera in the Domain patrons, high chairs and beach umbrellas are not allowed and, to protect the lawn, plastic sheeting and ice are not permitted on the grass.
