‘Feminine Wiles’ – soprano and percussion in recital
Presented as part of its 2013 concert series, Trinity Grammar School’s Society of the Arts is thrilled to present Feminine Wiles, featuring percussionist Claire Edwardes and soprano Anna Fraser in an intimate recital at Delmar Gallery. They will be performing a lively and textured programme of seldom-heard gems for voice and percussion instruments which include 5 octave marimba, vibraphone and – surprisingly – flower pots.
Edwardes and Fraser both studied at the Sydney Conservatorium in the late 1990s, but it wasn’t until the Song Company’s 2012 program, Sunken Dreams, that they shared the stage. The two musicians enjoyed making music together so much that they decided to collaborate again especially for this recital.
Claire Edwardes is Australia’s pre-eminent solo percussionist. She was the 1999 Young Performer of the Year and two time winner of the AMC/APRA Art Music Award for Excellence for her contribution to Australian music. Song Company member Anna Fraser has gained a reputation as a versatile soprano specialising in the interpretation of early and contemporary repertoire. Trinity Grammar School’s Society of the Arts has been presenting cultural events in Sydney’s inner west since 1952.
