Halcyon And Elliot Gyger In A New Collaboration
Halcyon presents This Kind of Life, featuring a new work by longtime colleague, composer Elliott Gyger who will be celebrating his 50th birthday this year. Sharing its title with the concert, This Kind of Life is scored for soprano, mezzo-soprano, clarinet, cello, piano and harp. It is the sixth Gyger premiere and celebrates more than 20 years of shared musical experiences between Gyger and Halcyon.
The concert will also feature Australian premieres of works by Belgian composer Annelies Van Parys and Japanese-born Dai Fujikura as well as a couple of works from our acclaimed 15th birthday album, Kingfisher: Songs for Halcyon.
Mezzo-soprano Jenny Duck-Chong will be joined in this performance by soprano Alison Morgan, flautist Laura Chislett, clarinettist David Rowden, bass clarinettist Georgina Oakes, cellist Geoffrey Gartner, pianist Jo Allan and harpist Rowan Phemister.
The artwork features another eye-catching image of liquid crystal DNA by Linden Gledhill.
