Iconic Chamber Works Kick Off Diamond Jubilee Celebrations
Chamber ensemble Refraction will present two concerts with pianist William Chen to begin the diamond jubilee celebrations of the Australian Elizabethan Theatre Trust.
Refraction includes a mixture of talented newcomers as well mature performers experienced in opera, symphonic and chamber music. Led by Ronald Thomas, the players in Refraction have variously performed with the English Sinfonia, the London Mozart Players, the English Chamber Orchestra and the Academy of St Martin in the Fields.
William Chen, an inaugural scholar of the Australian Elizabethan Trust is presently Professor of Piano at the Shanghai Conservatorium, He performed in solo round the world, with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at Cadogan Hall and with the Sydney, Melbourne and Queensland Symphony Orchestras.
The concert will feature two gems from the chamber music repertoire:
Ludwig Van Beethoven: Septet Op. 20 for Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass, Clarinet, Bassoon and French Horn
Felix Mendelssohn: Sextet Op 110 for piano and strings.
