IFAC Handa Australian Singing Competition Announces Adjudicators
IFAC Handa Australian Singing Competition has announced the team of experts who will assist National Adjudicator, soprano Natalie Aroyan in this year’s competition.
From performers to pedagogues, voice and language coaches to chorus masters, these adjudicators are drawn from around the nation. They are:
Brisbane Heats: Sarah Crane (Soprano at Opera Queensland and Vocal Lecturer at The University of Queensland) and Mattias Lower (Tenor, Classical Voice Teacher at the Queensland Conservatorium)
Perth Heats: Emma Matthews AM (Soprano and Head of Classical Voice and Opera Studies at WAAPA) and Hugh Lydon (Children’s Chorus Master for West Australia Opera & founder of the Perth Choral Institute)
Sydney Heats: Jane Ede (Principal soprano, Opera Australia) and Dr Simon Lobelson (Lecturer in Voice and Opera, Sydney Conservatorium of Music)
Melbourne Heats: Ali McGregor (Soprano, Victorian Opera) and Stephen Grant (Head of Voice of Melbourne Conservatorium, and Director of the Vocal Ensemble)
The Adjudicators for the Semi-Finals and Finals will be: Nicole Dorigo, specialist language coach at Opera Australia, Tahu Matheson, Head of Music at Opera Australia.
National Adjudicator Natalie Aroyan, principal soprano at Opera Australia.
Barry Ryan OAM, baritone and lecturer in Voice and Opera at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.
Diego Torre, leading tenor at Opera Australia.
