These fabulous images are from Opera Australia’s production of Verdi’s\u00a0A Masked Ball <\/em>opens tonight in Sydney. A\u00a0co-production with Teatro Colon in\u00a0Buenos Aires, La Monnaie in\u00a0Brussels and the\u00a0Norwegian National Opera & Ballet in\u00a0Oslo, A Masked Ball is <\/em>presented in association with Sydney Festival.<\/p>\n

This world premi\u00e8re\u00a0new\u00a0 was devised by La Fura del Baus, <\/em>the Catalan theatre group which had its beginnings in street theatre in 1979.<\/p>\n

Conducted by Andrea Molino and directed by\u00a0Alex Oll\u00e9, the cast features Diego Torre as Gustav III,\u00a0Tamar Iveri as Amelia,\u00a0Jos\u00e9 Carb\u00f3 as Count Anckarstroem, Mariana Pentcheva as Ulrica Arvidson,\u00a0Taryn Fiebig as Oscar,\u00a0\u00a0Luke Gabbedy as Christian,\u00a0\u00a0Richard Anderson as Count Ribbing, Jud Arthur as\u00a0Count Horn, Andrew Brunsdon as Judge and the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra with the\u00a0Opera Australia Chorus.<\/p>\n

The season lasts from January 16th to February 12th 2013.<\/p>\n
