{"id":10766,"date":"2013-02-17T22:23:52","date_gmt":"2013-02-17T11:23:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/soundslikesydney.com.au\/?p=10766"},"modified":"2013-02-17T22:23:52","modified_gmt":"2013-02-17T11:23:52","slug":"falstaff-photo-gallery","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/soundslikesydney.com.au\/falstaff-photo-gallery\/","title":{"rendered":"Falstaff photo gallery"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Get a taste of Verdi&#8217;s rambunctious opera Verdi&#8217;s <em>Falstaff\u00a0 <\/em>which opened in Sydney last Friday.\u00a0\u00a0Warwick Fyfe\u00a0sings the bawdy title role with\u00a0Amelia Farrugia, Jacqueline Dark, Domenica Matthews, Lorina Gore, John Longmuir, Graeme McFarlane and Jud Arthur and Kanen Breen as the twin numbskulls Pistol and Bardolph adding burlesque and slapstick to their hugely demanding vocal performances.<\/p>\n<p>Tracy Grant Lord&#8217;s costumes\u00a0move\u00a0from fresh apple green\u00a0through taupes and burnished ambers, ending in the spangled frocks of the\u00a0final woodland scene, matching the colours of the music as the drama unfolds. Iain Aitken&#8217;s set design re-creates Tudor England in a perfect setting for the Elizabethan comedy. Directed by Simon Phillips and conducted by Antony Walker, this is Verdi in a different vein.<\/p>\n<p>On\u00a0in the Joan Sutherland\u00a0Opera Theatre, Sydney Opera House, on selected evenings at 7.30,\u00a0till March 16th with a matinee at 1 pm on Saturday March 9th.
