A capella<\/em> quartet\u00a0The Idea of North presents Sweet Music<\/em> as part of\u00a0St James’ King Street\u00a0 Metamorphosis<\/em>\u00a0concert series for 2013.\u00a0\u00a0The double ARIA Award winning\u00a0ensemble celebrates 20 years of singing together this year and\u00a0so they will be presenting some of their best loved songs at this special event.<\/p>\n

Resonating in the\u00a0luxurious acoustic of historic St James\u2019 Church, these unaccompanied voices\u00a0will\u00a0create some special sounds\u00a0with the\u00a0natural reverberations and millisecond time delays that the venue\u00a0offers to\u00a0vocalists. They’ll perform music by Sinead O\u2019Connor, Sting, Stevie Wonder, Joni Mitchell and\u00a0others. As well,\u00a0‘TION’ will be joined by the Choir of St James\u2019 for a couple of numbers.<\/p>\n

Along with\u00a0their impeccable sound, The Idea of North’s presentations are lighthearted and full of fun.\u00a0Soprano Sally Cameron, alto Naomi Crellin,\u00a0tenor Nick Begbie and bass Andrew Piper\u00a0have built a substantial repertoire of unaccompanied music with\u00a0a\u00a0vocal percussion thrown in. Their distinct sound and style crosses many musical genres: jazz, folk,\u00a0gospel, pop and comedy. They have\u00a0nine albums in the catalogue and a significant local and\u00a0international fan base with several overseas tours to their name.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n
