German cellist Daniel M\u00fcller-Schott\u00a0joins AC<\/sup>O2<\/sub>, with ACO Principal Cellist\u00a0Timo-Veikko Valve\u00a0and\u00a0Director and Violinist Richard Tognetti,\u00a0 for a programme of Vivaldi cello concerti,\u00a0string works by Handel, Rautavaara, Stravinsky and Bart\u00f3k, and Bloch’s From Jewish Life.<\/em>\u00a0Richard Tognetti, calls this program \u201ca classic showcase of string orchestra repertoire\u201d. \u00a0Daniel M\u00fcller-Schott plays a 1727 Venetian made \u201cEx Shapiro\u201d Matteo Goffriller cello.<\/p>\n

AC<\/sup>O2,<\/sub>\u00a0described as the “precocious little sister” of the Australian Chamber Orchestra, offers the next generation of talented young Australian musicians to work with the stars of the ACO, creating a fresh and energised combined ensemble. The young musicians have all participated in the ACO’s Emerging Artist Program and many already play in the state symphony orchestras whilst choosing to spend time learning with and\u00a0experiencing the ACO’s\u00a0performance style.<\/p>\n

Daniel M\u00fcller-Schott was born in Munich in November 1976. He studied under Walter Nothas, Heinrich Schiff and Steven Isserlis. A scholarship\u00a0awarded by the Anne-Sophie Mutter\u00a0Foundation enabled him to\u00a0study privately\u00a0for a year with Mstislav Rostropovitch. At just fifteen, he\u00a0sensationally won\u00a0the 1st Prize at the Moscow International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians.<\/p>\n

Since then, he has\u00a0worked with the world’s\u00a0best orchestras, amongst them\u00a0the New York Philharmonic,\u00a0 the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte-Carlo, the Gewandhausorchestra Leipzig, the Munich Philharmonic, and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. In Asia, he performs with the NHK Symphony Orchestra, the National Symphony Orchestra of Taiwan (NSO) and the Seoul Philharmonic. He has worked with conductors\u00a0like Vladimir Ashkenazy,\u00a0Andrew Davis, Charles Dutoit, Christoph Eschenbach,\u00a0Bernard Haitink,\u00a0Neeme J\u00e4rvi,\u00a0Neville Marriner,\u00a0Gianandrea Noseda and Kurt Masur.<\/p>\n

Daniel M\u00fcller-Schott has an extensive discography, from the\u00a0Cello Suites of J S Bach,\u00a0and the recently released\u00a0Solo Suites by Britten\u00a0on the ORFEO label, for which he received the Diapason d\u2019Or award in France. He\u00a0won the Quarterly Prize of German Record Critics for his recordings of the Elgar and Walton Cello Concertos and for his CD of the Shostakovich Cello Concertos recorded with the Bavarian Radio Orchestra under Yakov Kreizberg. Other awards include\u00a0the Diapason d\u2019Or, the Gramophone Editor\u2019s Choice, Strad Selection, and the BBC Music Magazine\u2019s \u201cCD of the month\u201d.<\/p>\n
